Moonlight

A platform for complex business negotiations

IN BETA NEXT MONTH!

Moonlight is a company's "negotiation brain." We integrate organizational priorities and data with state-of-the-art tech to improve offers and counter-offers - helping close complex deals faster, more reliably, and with better terms.

The Cost of Negotiating the Old Way

Imagine an enterprise software deal. Sales, finance, legal, procurement, and account executives are involved. There are dozens, sometimes even hundreds of variables to track. Any single item can kill a deal, and the cost of failure (even delay) can range from thousands to millions of dollars. Part of the problem is that today, as in 1976 (half a century ago), negotiators handle complex deals by breaking them down into bite-size chunks. This paradigm is a killer for a few reasons:

  1. It's slow, as the number of necessary compromises balloons to match the number of issues
  2. It's fragile, as failure to reach a compromise on any single issue can kill the whole deal
  3. It produces weak deals, as it blunts teams' ability to take advantage of mismatches in buyer/seller priorities

Clearly, the world of complex negotiation needs an update.

Users often find it helpful to compare potential offers with the terms of deals with similar characteristics.

Changing the Paradigm

We’re betting big on a different approach—one where modern data science makes holistic evaluation possible. Here’s how it works:

  1. When a client makes it to the bottom of the funnel, negotiators boot up Moonlight and create a new instance
  2. Moonlight talks to the user in plain english (using its ‘answering machine’) to collect and organize relevant data
  3. With data in hand, Moonlight’s ‘thinking machine’ builds a set of exploratory first offers
  4. The user finalizes the set by asking questions like, ‘if we bump the SLA to 99.995%, can we shift a few reps & warranties to their side?’

With each round of negotiation, Moonlight maps more of the agreement space. Our goal: that sellers not only sign more deals, faster, but they win on the factors they care most about.
